Mystic, New Setup
I was on the hunt for a new setup. The idea was a single hand rod for steelhead. It had to be a 7 or 8wt rod, be able to throw streamers for swinging and allow for nymphing.
Talking to Courney from Nile Creek Fly shop in BC (http://www.nilecreekflyshop.com/), he convinced me to trust the Mystic M-Series in a 9’3″ 8wt.
I never had a chance to cast the rod before purchasing (I usually cast all my rods before buying) but Courtney is familiar with my preference.
With this rod, I decided to use a Hardy 7000 DD reel that I had for another setup. This reel is a bit too small to my taste and makes the rod a bit tip heavy especially when nymphing/high sticking.
I will provide a more in depth review once i have spent a dozen days or so on the water with this new rod!
